Critical Evaluation of My Own Professional Development


I feel thus far I have conducted successful professional development with the help of the Professional Studies Module. I have and continue to explore different and new ways to further my career within the media industry. Updating my blog regularly, applying for various work placement opportunities and perfecting my journalistic and photographic talents have ensured that my blog and various social networking sites have had several hundred hits in the last month alone.

In the next year however I plan to step up my efforts to progress my career. I believe writing articles daily and regularly updating all social networking sites would enable me to further my career within the media industry as well as applying for and obtaining more work placements within my chosen fields.

Personal Career Aims and Ambitions


Within my career I am passionate about Journalism. I would like to progress within the journalism industry and work within a magazine. I'd love to travel the world collecting and distributing the news in a fast paced and challenging environment.

I also have a big passion for photography, particularly fashion and portraiture. I would like to become a freelance photographer in the future and possible work within my two areas of interest simultaneously. I feel as the industry becomes increasing diverse the fact that I can work successfully within journalism and photography with be extremely desirable for employers.

Within the next 6 months I intend to focus my efforts towards obtaining work experience and developing new skills as well as further my original skills.

Within the next 3 years I'd like to investigate permanent job roles within the industry. To do this I intend to carry out all the skills progression I have alluded to within my earlier writing. I understand this to be the most effective way to obtain my career goals.
